MOSCOW, Russia: Originally, sprinter Trevorvano Mackey was supposed to be here at the 14th IAAF World Championships as a member of the men's 4 x 100 metre relay pool.

But the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations officials have been tight lipped about his absence.

When pressed for an official statement, both BAAA's president Mike Sands and team manager Ralf McKinney would not confirm or deny that Mackey had tested positive with his A sample from the National Championships in Grand Bahama in June.

The only thing both confirmed was that Mackey was taken of the team prior to their departure out of the Bahamas over the weekend.

Team manager George Cleare said that he was told: "Trevorvano Mackey is dealing with something and he will not be competing here. I haven'tbeen briefed as yet, so I can't really speak to it," Cleare said.

"Iam still waiting on some official information from the federation."

Mackey, who ran the 200 at the Olympic Games last year in London, England, was on the men's 4 x 100m team that included Shavez Hart, Adrian Griffith and Jamial Rolle at the Senior Central American and Caribbean Championships in Mexico.

They won the gold in a new nationalrecord time of 38.7 seconds.

All members of the team, except for Mackey are here.

Warren Fraser, who ran in the 100m in Mexico, along with quarter-miler Michael Mathieu, who is running in the 200m here, are the relay pool.

Cleare, however, said the coaching staff will make a decision on whether or not they will add anybody else before the event is contested on the final day of competition on Sunday, August 18.
