Man hunted after burglary and attempted rape

POLICE are on the hunt for a man responsible for a burglary and attempted rape early yesterday morning.

The incident happened at around 3am at a home on Podoleo Street.

According to reports, the masked man broke into the home through a window and attempted to rape a 22-year-old woman who was asleep in her bedroom. He was armed with a knife.

The man was scared off by a noise and fled through an eastern door, heading in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a having a light brown complexion and standing about 6ft tall.

He was wearing a white jersey, blue and white basketball pants and a mask.

Anyone with information concerning this incident was asked to call 911 919, 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 328-TIPS.

Police are also asking for the public’s help in solving a shooting that has left a 27-year-old man fighting for his life in hospital.

The incident happened around 11pm on Monday.

According to reports, the victim went to a home on Dorsett Alley in Bamboo Town, where the occupants of a vehicle opened fire at him, hitting him in the stomach and upper arm.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance and is listed in serious condition.

In other crime news,a 53-year old man is in custody in connection with an attempted break-in on Tuesday.

According to reports, at around 1.20am, officers from the Mobile Division responded to an alarm at a business on Madeira Street. The man was detained for questioning nearby.
