Bimini gains 300 visitor boost via flotilla getaway

The Marine Max Annual Lobster Bash’s rendezvous at Resorts World-Bimini marked the end of the summer vacation.

A flotilla of 62 boats that included brands such as Hatters, Boston Whalers, Sea Ray and Azimut travelled from Marine Max’s Florida locations in Palm Beach, Deerfield Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

Marine Max’s Chris Finck said the crossing was rough but worth the ride, and praised the Bahamas Tourist Office, Customs and Immigration for assisting the group with the clearance.

Three hundred participants enjoyed a weekend of relaxation, exploring Bimini’s history, snorkelling-diving, fishing and partying.

The schedule included a welcome reception, a trip to Honeymoon Harbour, the Sapona (ship wreck) for snorkelling and the crescendo on Bimini Bay Beach, with fireworks and a Junkanoo Rush Out.

Marine Max is a full service dealership that coordinates up to six flotilla getaways per year for its clients, with the majority of them cruising to the Bahamas.

And hey caught every crawfish they could find, big small it did not matter and the crooked Bimini police and fisheries officers were right there letting them get away with. They drank their rum and let them do whatever they wanted.

No notice or enforcement of six tails per person on board.

One boat had a compressor and was diving out of our condo. And they flip them over and don't flip them back.

People complain about the big DOMINICAN boats and they are bad but these go fast weekend US boats are just as bad, especially for the weekend Bahamian fisherman.

But nobody checking, just give me rum on the docks and everything cool man...
