A PRIVATE company donated 3,000 backpacks to inner city students as part of the Urban Renewal programme yesterday.

Altairo Mitchell, president of Bahamas Striping, says he feels its his civic duty to give back to the community to ensure the success of future generations.

He made the donation at the Urban Renewal Commission Back to School Church service at the Church of God of Prophecy on East Street.

“We must all do our part to help the Bahamas be a success. I encourage you students to take school seriously and to do the best you can to be the best you can,” Mr Mitchell said.

“Focus on your education and less on friends. Listen to your teachers, you can have fun and learn at the same time.”

Minister of Works and Urban Development, Phillip Davis told the children that he is their biggest fan and his ministry will do whatever it can to ensure they have a bright future.
