A 24-YEAR-OLD MAN is in custody after he stabbed his mother three times after a row at their home.

It happened around 8pm on Thursday at their Coral Harbour residence.

Police received a call of a stabbing at a residence in Ranfurly Drive.

According to reports, the victim and her son were involved in an argument.

When officers arrived they went upstairs to a western bedroom where they saw a black and silver knife handle in the doorway entrance along with what appeared to be a significant amount of blood on the floor.

When they entered the room they saw a woman, along with a 10-month-old baby lying in a pool of blood on the bed.

The woman appeared to have stab wounds to the left shoulder, thigh and hand.

Officers checked the room and discovered a silver blade by the balcony door.

The 41-year-old woman was taken to hospital by ambulance where she was yesterday listed in a stable condition.

Police arrested the son, who was sitting outside on the lawn when they arrived.

Yesterday, they released a statement saying a 24-year-old had been arrested for stabbing his mother.

Investigations are ongoing.
