The Bahamas was yesterday ranked as the world’s 22nd least corrupt country, with only Barbados faring better among Caribbean nations.
In what might be viewed as a boost for the integrity of this nation’s institutions and attractiveness for foreign direct investment (FDI, the Bahamas emerged from Transparency International’s rankings in a relatively good light.
Many observers are likely to be sceptical of the Bahamas’ rankings, but only Barbados placed higher at 15 with a score of 75, compared to this nation’s 71.
The Bahamas was ranked 22nd out of 177 nations, but also rated 19th out of 83 on the Financial Secrecy Index with a score of 83.
