The potcake fiasco

EDITOR, The Tribune.

After reading the statement from the VMAB yesterday in your paper, I felt the need to put on paper my thoughts concerning this ridiculous mind set of this organisation.

It pains me to see that my fellow Bahamians have not grown enough to not feel threatened by the generosity of foreign doctors and volunteers that came to the Bahamas to carry out Operation Potcake and did a remarkable job, without asking for one dollar in compensation.

If our Vets are so capable to handle the potcake problem, why has it not been done before. The answer to this is greed on their part. We all know it will cost money to do this, but if our Vets are not willing to put their hands in their own pockets, then let them shut up and let the people that organised Operation Potcake move forward to help the suffering of our potcake dogs here on the Island.

As we all know the people that took full advantage of this programme, are ones that are struggling to put food on the table for their families and cannot afford to pay $50 for each animal to be spayed or neutered. What is wrong with this picture. Again greed and insecurity.

This organisation, has shown how really caring about our stray animals, are not their first concern. But it is all about their bottom line in dollars.

A very angry and sad Bahamian.
