Red Cross celebrates World Volunteers Day

IN celebration of World Volunteers Day, the Bahamas Red Cross Society is taking the opportunity to recognise the value of local contributors.

The BRC noted that for decades, caring individuals have been supporting activities in Bahamian communities and making a substantial contribution to the country.

“Our volunteers play an important role in bridging communities and providing much needed assistance especially in times of a disaster,” said the BRC in a statement.

“We are proud to have a diverse volunteer workforce, and respecting our Seven Fundamental Principles, will continue to actively recruit volunteers, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, disability or age based on their potential.”

The Red Cross urged the government, private sector and civil society to work together to fund and promote volunteerism as an integral part of our country’s development.
