Speaker pays respects to long-serving Rahming

By KENDAL MAJOR, MP

Speaker, House of
Assembly

THE entire staff of the House of Assembly and indeed the Parliament are deeply saddened by the sudden and untimely passing of Mr Leon David Rahming, Assistant Clerk of the Parliament.

Mr Rahming joined the Parliamentary staff in 1993 and from that time until his demise he gave dedicated and loyal service to the institution.

During his tenure in Parliament Mr Rahming served in various capacities. He served as Acting Clerk to the House and the Senate in the absence of the Chief Clerk.

Mr Rahming also served as secretary to the Bahamas delegation at several Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conferences, the last being the Regional CPA Conference held in Antigua in July 2013.

He also played an active role as secretary in Parliamentary Committees.

Mr Rahming was a valuable member of Parliament’s administrative team.

Mr Rahming’s death is a great loss to the institution of Parliament. He will be greatly missed and long remembered.

On behalf of the Honourable House of Assembly and the entire staff I wish to express deepest sympathy to Mr Rahming’s dear wife Sharon Rahming, sons Mario, Lemarr, Leon III and his daughter Lynette.

We also wish to express sympathy to Mr Rahming’s wider circle of family and friends including his softball families, Valley Boys Junkanoo Group and the Prince Hall Lodge.

May he rest in peace.
