ARMED gun men escaped with an undetermined amount of church funds after they held up Deputy Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis and his wife Ann Marie at their home yesterday.

In an interview with The Tribune, Anglican Archdeacon Keith Cartwright, who heads St Christopher’s church which the family attends, questioned whether the situation could have turned fatal if Mrs Davis did not have the money to hand over to the culprits. The funds had been collected during a recent church event.

The thieves, The Tribune was told, were on a rampage inside the Davis’ home demanding money. It has been said they believed that there was a safe inside the house. However, when the thieves were told that there was not a substantial amount of money in the home they flew into a rage.

Mrs Davis then handed over the church money.

Fr Cartwright said: “Mrs Davis is very badly shaken and she is devastated from this incident. Can you imagine for these thugs to have held them up with guns to their heads?

“Mrs Davis serves in different ministries at the church and they have been on occasion responsible for different funds of the church.

“I am horrified that the level of crime has gotten to the state where people are going to directly go after the highest elected official in the country at this time.”

He believes that the time has come for elected officials to be protected by security guards who are present 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Ding ding ding!! We have a winner...they KNEW she was the one carrying that money from that church event, or someone who had some contact with the event tipped the culprits off. Ya ain't even safe with who you hang out with at church. Sad sad sad.

No, the time has come for elected officials to execute their fiduciary obligation. That means, people's interest before my interest. Stop stealing. Stop turning a blind eye to drug smugglers, human smugglers, gun smugglers, webshop money laundering, stealing crown land, stealing treasury money by putting people in positions you know are either useless or that they are not qualified to execute.

Yes, church money explains it. If only Alfred Grey had thought of that when they found that money in his closet. Where else does one keep church money days after a church event? Night deposit? Most certainly not.
