Untidy justice

EDITOR, The Tribune.

You know the saying photographs don’t lie – well the ones taken by the Leader of the Opposition, Hubert Minnis starkly showed much of the reasons why the Attorney General’s office is unable to obtain convictions. No can find the files.

Recently, the prosecutors who appear in Magistrate’s Court were moved – the view in the photographs indicate that prior to the move there was no such thing as basic filing – no fireproof cabinets, all they had were cardboard boxes.

This is no time when we seem to have all the money in the world to fly 20 people plus the Ministers around the globe and can’t find a few thousand to provide basic filing cabinets for the Prosecutors.

Immediately, all official travel must be put on hold and those moneys saved will be used to purchase fire proofed filing cabinets with the support security and fire safety.

Looking at those photographs I wondered what would happen if a fire occurred? Our criminal court system at magistrate’s level would totally go up in smoke.

If the AG wants her pet thing – swift justice – may I suggest she will institute a swift priority purchase of appropriate filing cabinets for your Magistrate’s Prosecutors.

We expect to see Madam Attorney General showing off a room filled with new filing cabinets in a day or so – no excuses get them.
