TWO men accused of robbing then acting Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis stole items collectively valued at $100,465, Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson Pratt said yesterday when they were being charged.

Tyrone Knowles, 25, and Marc McCartney, 21, are accused of robbing Mr Davis of jewellery worth $93,000, a jewellery box worth $200, a gold Barracca worth $700, an opal top wallet worth $450, a Royal Bank credit card and a driver’s licence worth $15.

The men were also charged with robbing Ann Marie Davis of $2,953 and Wilberforce Seymour of $10.

In addition, Knowles was charged with illegally receiving a black jewellery box valued at $200 and an assortment of jewellery valued at $2,500.

Knowles was also accused of robbing Avery Johnson of a silver 2010 Honda Accord and a Samsung Galaxy phone. McCartney was charged with illegally receiving an iPad.

Knowles told the court he lives in Exuma and travels to New Providence occasionally. He and the co-accused were not required to plead.

The Chief Magistrate urged the prosecution to present the court with a Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI) at the earliest practical time given the national significance of the case.

When the prosecution said they would present the court with the VBI in February next year, the magistrate told them that would not be soon enough.

The prosecution and the court eventually settled for adjourning the case to January 29th.

Police sources said additional persons are expected to be arraigned this week in connection with the robbery, and that one suspect, 27-year old Jeffery “Bongo” King of Yellow Elder Gardens, is still at large.
