CITY BOWLING

LEAGUE

THE top player in City Bowling League competition Monday night at Mario’s Bowling and Entertainment Centre was Leon Graham of Unique Discovery, who crushed the pins for a gigantic 666 high three game set. The men’s runner-up MVP was Errol Morley of BEC Shockers with an outstanding 638 set.

Winston Parker of the Asue Draw Knights surprised everyone last evening with the high game of 248 followed by a 245 second high game from the veteran bowler Alfred Burrows of TK Falcons. The ladies were led by Xynea Johnson of TK Falcons who mowed down the pins for a huge 244 high game and an excellent 613 three game set. Johnson was followed by Driskell Rolle of TK Falcons who earned runner-up MVP status with a 232 second high game and a 561 three game set.

Other scores of the evening were: TK Falcons def. Bahamasair Flyers 3-0; Checker’s Cafe def. City Leaguers 3-0; Unique Discovery def. Ten Back Strikers 2-1; BEC Shockers def. Giga Tech 2-1; Telco Enterprises def. Phil’s Food Services 2-1; Mario’s Flaming Bowlers def. Commonwealth Electrical 2-1 and Carib Constrcution and Giga Tech played to a 1 1/2 draw.

BFFL ELECTIONS

THE Bahamas Flag Football League (BFFL) will be conducting elections to select the remaining four of the six-member team on its inaugural executive board. The election date is set for Tuesday, January 14, 2014 and Saturday, January 18.

Times and venue will be announced at a later date.

Voting is open to any and all members of all registered teams of the 2013 season. Running for president are Obie Roberts (RBC Lions), Darren Turner (RBC Lions) and Jayson Clarke (OJS Spartans).

Charles Johnson (BWF Pink Foxes) and John-Marc Nutt (SA Ravens) are vying for vice president. The position of special projects officer is being contested by Jayde Knowles (BWF Pink Foxes) and Chevar Rolle (BTC Avengers) and the candidates for public relations officer are Charles Johnson (BWF Pink Foxes) and Bianca Lee. Jamaal Stubbs (Predators) was already elected unopposed during the nomination for treasurer as was Omar Wilkinson (OJS Spartans) for secretary.

SOFTBALL

MEMORIAL SERVICE

A memorial service for the late Leon ‘Lee’ Rahming is scheduled to be held 7pm Thursday, December 19 on Windsor Park, East Street and Wulff Rd.

All members from the sporting community are asked to attend this service.

Rahming, 60, died while playing for the Williams Construction Jets against the Joshua Knights during the opening of the Masters’ Softball Association’s season opener on Saturday, December 7 at the Archdeacon William Thompson Softball Park, Southern Recreation Grounds.

MASTERS LEAGUE

THE Masters Softball League has announced that all games scheduled for Saturday at the Archdeacon William Thompson Softball Park at Southern Recreation Grounds have been postponed due to the funeral service of Leon ‘Lee’ Rahming at St Agnes Parish Church.

The MSA is expected to resume play in its regular season on Sunday with a double header. In the 1pm opener, the BTC Untouchables will take on the Dozer Pros, while the Joshua Knights are slated to face McDonalds in the 2pm feature contest.

AMATEUR

BOXING SHOW

CHAMPION Amateur Boxing Club is scheduled to hold its 18th annual Ray Minus Sr End of Year Amateur Boxing Tournament, recognising the legends of the ring - former Bahamian boxing greats. The event will be an evening of explosive and exciting competition on December 25 (Christmas Day) at the Platinum Sports Entertainment Centre on Dowdeswell St and Christie Ave.

Box-off starts at 8pm. It will feature boxers from the Inagua Amateur Boxing Club, Freeport Amateur Boxing Club and the New Providence Amateur Boxing Club. The main attraction is expected to be a match between Keiron Knowles and Colin Johnson. Additionally, nine other matches are all set to take place. Awards will be presented to the most improved boxer, most outstanding boxer, best fight of the tournament, boxer of the year award and the Ray Minus Sr Trophy. All amateur boxers and boxing clubs are welcome to participate.
