Bloomberg anchor to address BFSB Summit

Bloomberg TV anchor, Adam Johnson, is a featured speaker at the Bahamas Financial Services Board’s (BFSB) 2014 International Business & Finance Summit (IBFS), scheduled for January 23-26 at Sandals Emerald Bay Resort in Exuma.

Mr Johnson will speak to the power of innovative and creative thinking in growing and sustaining business, and how strategic management of this innovation has to be part of corporate strategy. He will showcase examples of diverse types of business operations where this has proven to be the case.

Specific topics at this IBFS Summit, entitled ‘Innovation Nation: How the World’s Smartest CEOs are Revolutionising Business’, will include ‘Adaptation as a necessity of Survival’,and ‘Redefining Success and the Corporate Mission – Who are we really?’

Mr Johnson will also take a look at ‘Innovation Winners’ he has interviewed, profiling their success stories. His presentation will conclude with a synopsis of what defines success.

Based in New York, Mr Johnson co-hosts ‘Street Smart’, Bloomberg’s daily business news program focused on the final hours of trading in the US.

The former Wall Street trader and investment manager contributes to ‘Lunch Money’, the network’s noon-hour program covering top news in equities, currencies, bonds and commodities

Since joining Bloomberg in 2009, Mr Johnson has interviewed numerous high-profile business leaders, including former AIG chief executive Hank Greenberg; Newmont Mining president and chief executive, Richard O’Brien; AOL chief executive, Tim Armstrong; and legendary investors Leon Cooperman, Carl Icahn and Tom DeMark.

Mr Johnson also anchored Bloomberg Television’s special coverage of the S&P US debt downgrade, as well as special coverage of global markets through the European credit crisis.

Prior to joining Bloomberg, Mr Johnson was the founder of TheIndependentTrader.com, a website and newsletter service devoted to identifying investing trends, and offering stock market commentary for investors.

Until 2008, he served as a co-founder and co-portfolio manager at New York-based hedge fund, MLH Capital, LLC. Earlier in his career, Mr Johnson served as a director at ING Furman Selz Asset Management, and as a trader at Louis Dreyfus Energy Corporation. He began his career as an analyst at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets.

BFSB’s chief executive, Aliya Allen, said: “IBFS 2014, under the theme ‘Survival of the Fittest’, will explore how the Bahamas continues to evolve as a preeminent international centre for business and finance, adapting to the ever-changing regulatory environment as necessary.

“It will look also at changes on the financial horizon, and showcase the best practices and strategies for success adopted by this jurisdiction.”
