THE Ministry of Education, Science and Technology’s 2013 Employee of the Year Chilean Burrows paid a courtesy call on Minister Jerome Fitzgerald.
She was accompanied by first runner-up Andira Burrows and second runner-up Anita Glinton.
Mr Fitzgerald expressed his gratitude to the employees for their excellent performance over the year.
Before presenting them with their trophies, Mr Fitzgerald told of how Mrs Glinton handled a call to the switchboard by Deputy Prime Minister Philip Davis.
He said Mr Davis was very complimentary about her manner, and thanked Mrs Glinton for the consistently pleasant and professional manner in which she greets the public.
Employee of the Year Mrs Burrows thanked the minister for his recognition of her years of service.
She also expressed appreciation for Reginald Saunders and the Educational Loan and Scholarship Division for selecting her to represent the division in the 2013 Public Service Employee of the Year Competition.
The winner quoted Mahatma Ghandi, saying to Mr Fitzgerald she wants “to continue to be the change she wishes to see” in the workplace and the wider community.
Mrs Burrows is a 20-year veteran of the Public Service, currently posted in the Educational Loan and Scholarship Division as a senior officer.
Mrs Burrows serves in the Examination and Assessment Division of the Ministry, where she was nominated for Employee of the Year in her second year of employment.
Anita Glinton has been an employee within the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for 15 years. She presently heads switchboard operations.
Marie Rolle, third runner-up, serves in the Security Division of the Ministry. She joined the Public Service in 1985.
