NPBA ACTION

THE Mail Boat Cybots were the first team to advance out of the New Providence Basketball Association’s first round playoffs.

On Saturday night at the CI Gibson Gymnasium, the Cybots completed a two-game sweep of the BTC Digitals with a 108-86 blowout. However, their divisional rivals Real Deal Shockers got surprised after losing a 84-81 decision to the Pyramid Food Rockets.

On Friday, there was another upset when the Woodside Petroleum Conquerors blew out the Police Crimestoppers, while the defending champions Commonwealth Bank Giants easily disposed of the PJ Stingers 132-111.

Here’s a summary of the games played:

Cybots 108, Digitals 86

Jermaine Storr scored a game high 25 points with six rebounds, David Taylor had 18 points, Ernest Saunders 15 points and Ahmad Bootle 12 points in the win. Lloyd Bailey led the losers with 23 points, Lorenzo Carter had 21 points and Perez Thompson chipped in with 12 points.

Rockets 84, Shockers 81

Tameko Moxey and Adorn Charlow both had 19 points (Charlow with 15 rebounds), Henderson Curry had 15 points and Demetri Mackey added 14 points in the win. Corey Williams scored a game high 20 points, Floyd Armbrister had 16 points and Devon Brennen 15 points in a losing effort.

Giants 132, Stingers 111

Gamaliel Rose pumped in 28 points with 16 rebounds, Michael Bain had 25 points, Adran Miller 18 points, Jefferey Henfield 13 points and Durchen Sands 10 points in the win. Bathlette LaFleur had a game high 29 points with 12 rebounds, Devon Ferguson 19 points, Tavares Roker 14 points, Jevon Atkins 12 points with 10 rebounds and Kevin Wright had 10 points in the loss.

Conquerors 102,

Crimestoppers 89

Able Joseph (11 rebounds and 13 assists) and Chrisoff Stuart both had 22 points, while Rashad Bain had 18 points, Garvin Scavella 16 points and Tyrell Griffin 11 points in the win. Jeremy Hutchinson had a game high 24 points with nine rebounds, Mitchell Johnson 22 points and Vernon Stubbs 13 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

The NPBA is scheduled to continue its postseason 7:30pm tonight at CI Gibson.

NPWBA ACTION

BEFORE taking a break for the prestigious Hugh Campbell Basketball Classic, the New Probidence Women’s Basketball Association played a double header at the DW Davis Gymnasium on Saturday night.

In the first game, the Bommer G Operators pounded the SkyBahamas Saints 53-22. Maleshia Peterson led the attack with a game high 18 points, three steals and nine rebounds and Felicia Cartwright had 12 points for the Operators.

Lakeisha Rolle had eight points and eight rebounds for the Saints.

In the feature contest, the Super Value Cybots Queens routed the College of the Bahamas Lady Caribs 89-62. Taneil Poitier had 19 points, six assists and two rebounds and Tracey Lewis added 16 points with a block, a steal, an assist and six rebounds for the Queens.

Gabrielle McKinney scored a game high 25 points, four steals, an assist and five rebounds, while Celeste Pyfrom chipped in with 12 points, six steals, an assist and three rebounds for the Caribs.

The NPWBA is scheduled to resume play on February 26.
