Jay Major top cyclist so far this season

THE New Providence Cycling Association staged its second road race of the 2013 season and young Jay Major proved to be the cyclist to watch as he posted back-to-back victories in a hotly contested race from start to finish.

At the sound of the bell, Anthony “Biggie” Colebrooke, Jave Russell, Tracey Sweeting and Jay Major all set off at some 25 miles per hour. They quickly raised the heart rates of all the cyclists.

Just over a few miles into the race, Major broke away from the main field from the back of the pack and he quickly established a small gap that he slowly widened.

The pelaton, comprising of Vincent Turnquest, Tracey Sweeting, Anthony Colebrooke and Justin Minns, made an attempt to catch Major.

But encouraged by the fans, Major increased his lead, putting it all on the line as he left nothing in the tank to pull off the solo victory to stamp his mark as the top cyclist so far this year.

With about a mile or two left to go, Sweeting surged from the pelaton to avoid a sprint coming into the home stretch for second place.

Third place went to Java Russell, ahead of Anthony Colebrooke. Fifth place went to Vincent Turnquest.
