PROFESSIONAL golfers Paige Mackenzie and Belen Mozo swung into action yesterday to promote a major golf tournament coming to the Bahamas.

The Pure Silk-Bahamas Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Classic will be played at the Tom Weiskopf-designed Ocean Club Golf Course from May 23 to 26.

It will be the first time the LPGA has come to the Bahamas. The four-round tournament has attracted some of the top names in the sport and carries a total prize purse of $1.3 million.

The classic is the first in a series of new 2013 tournaments to be hosted by the LPGA. The best female player locally will be awarded with a Bahamian invitation to compete in the tournament.

Yesterday Paige and Belen got to play at the Ocean Club and took time out to visit the Junkanoo museum and Graycliff’s cigar factory.
