WENDY’S (Bahamas) has created 42 jobs by opening its second outlet in the Carmichael Road area, expanding its New Providence brand presence to 11 locations with a “dual drive through” concept.

The fast food chain yesterday said customers have been “very receptive” to the new restaurant, which opened on December 3 in the Carmichael City Shopping Plaza.

Christopher Tsavoussis, president of Wendy’s (Bahamas), said the chain’s second outlet on Carmichael Road employed 42 persons. “The new, streamlined store, not only looks sleek and modern, but is highly functional as well. Revolutionary in its design, the restaurant was engineered to cater fully to the needs of our busy customers who frequent, and live in, City 2000 and the surrounding Carmichael area,” he said.

“Recognising the growing population of consumers and residents in the southwestern district of New Providence, we decided to extend the Wendy’s brand and open our 11th store in the Carmichael City Shopping Centre.

“’The Double Lane Drive Thru’ feature guarantees a faster and more efficient “throughput” of customers, which means less time spent in the drive through. It’s the first of its kind in the entire Wendy’s system worldwide.”

Mr Tsavoussis added that “our goal” was to ensure customers had a ‘neighbourhood’ Wendy’s nearby, part of a strategy to take the business to where they live.

“Customers have been very receptive to the new concept,” he said. “Additionally, there are eight retail/commercial units under construction in the plaza, which will be ready for occupancy in March.” This is designed to create critical retail mass and generate additional customer traffic, which will benefit both Wendy’s and its other plaza tenants.

Mr Tsavoussis added that Wendy’s had “limited time offer” menu items in the pipeline for 2013, including exotic salads, South-Western inspired gourmet treats and new twists on classic offerings.

He added: “The new Carmichael store is allowing us to provide our services to even more people, and neighbourhoods, by setting up business “a little closer to home’.”
