JUST a few games remain in the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools junior boys basketball season and teams are positioning themselves to make a late season push.

The St John’s College Giants went on the road to edge out the Temple Christian Suns 25-22 at the Suns’ campus yesterday.

The Giants used a balanced scoring attack with three players finishing with at least four points to help leading scorer Bryan Clarke who finished with a game high 10 points.

Diargo Smith led the Suns with nine points while Tyler Colebrooke added seven.

The Giants scored on the opening tip and seemed poised for a lopsided win as the Suns opened up 0-8 from field.

St John’s failed to capitalise due to a series of turnovers which kept TC in striking distance.

After making a pair from the line, Colebrooke broke the drought with a three pointer for their first field goal of the game.

The Giants led 12-7 at the half before the Suns rallied back with a 10-0 run to open the third.

TC took their first lead of the game on a running floater from Colebrooke and led for the first time all game and led 19-14 headed into the fourth.

The Giants answered in the fourth when Clarke scored six of his 10 points to put his team ahead.

The Giants tied the game at 19 on a Clarke layup and his free throws two possessions later sealed the win.

Trailing by three with the ball and just six seconds left, the Suns’ comeback fell just short when Smith travelled following the inbound pass.

Today, the Giants will again take to the road to face the St Augustine’s College Big Red Machine, while the Suns are slated to host the St Anne’s Blue Waves.
