YOUNG rising Bahamian singer, Melanique Babb released her latest single “Feel It” which encourages listeners to embrace opportunities.

Melanique embraced the opportunity to sing professionally several years ago. As a result of where that opportunity took her - collaborating with big named producers and artists on the international scene - she encourages listeners to take a risk.

The song is gaining airplay on local stations.

“The song is just about not allowing opportunities to slip right through your hands. If you have the opportunity to do something big, then take it. Do not allow it to slip out the door,” she told In Ya Ear.

The song was a collaboration between Melanique and a Miami based writer. On the day she was scheduled to record the song, she ended up changing most of the lyrics at the last minute.

“When I went to the studio to record the song, it was already prepared. I was not feeling it when I began singing. I liked the chorus, the beat and the harmonies, but the other parts of the song I did not like. I ended up changing almost everything except the chorus,” she said.

“Feel It” was produced by Cool & Dre, one of the hottest music producers in Miami. A video for the song is on the way. Melanique is in the process of shooting a video, which she said will feature vibrant colours and back drops. It will be shot in Miami.

Ever since Melanique’s move to Miami, her career has blossomed. She has made appearances at clubs in Miami, and opened for artist like Ciara.

She is also expected to perform at the rescheduled Jingle Ball Concert in Nassau, which will feature international rappers, 2 Chainz and French Montana.

“I have a very busy year ahead. I am working on a number of projects. I will also begin working on my album which I hope to release before the year is out

After my video is released I will focus on building my image and getting my music heard,” she said.

Melanique has also developed relationships with rapper Flo Rida and is currently in talks with Rick Ross to collaborate on several singles,” she said.

In the past Melanique performed with the American rapper/ songwriter Lil Mama in her mixed talent showcase held in September 2009.  She has also worked with American record producer, Vdub, from Interscope Records.

Melanique gains inspiration from Bahamian artists including Ronnie Butler, Baha Men, and Bodine. Some of her influences are Aaliyah, Beyonce, Bob Marley, Rihanna, Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Wyclef Jean, and Lauryn Hill.
