Agency hires 15 for GB Shipyard

Clear Blue Maritime Agency has been working with the Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) for the past four years to provide more Bahamian men and women with work. A group of 15 new recruits recently hired by Clear Blue Maritime have been given the opportunity to train in various departments within the Shipyard.

The Shipyard has mandated that as business increases, so will jobs for qualified Bahamians who are interested in working as scaffolders, riggers, welders, pipefitters, platters, painter/blasters and mechanics.

Calvis Bartlett, Clear Blue’s on-site supervisor, said: “It is vitally important for residents on Grand Bahama to know that as the Grand Bahama Shipyard grows and employment opportunities increase, we are working with the company to find the best men and women who are qualified in the skills they need, and can handle working safely in an industrial environment.”

There is a defined path that has been forged between the Grand Bahama Shipyard and Clear Blue Maritime, a contract labour company that seeks to hire the best workers willing to be trained in the growing maritime industry.

“We continue to work with local companies like Clear Blue Maritime, one of several providers of labour to the yard, to improve opportunities for Bahamians in our field,” said Reuben Byrd, the Shipyard’s executive vice-president of operations.

“We are proud to help them train their staff to reach international standards of excellence that are expected in yards around the world.”

Grand Bahama Shipyard and Clear Blue Maritime are committed to ensuring that anyone who has prior relevant experience will be considered for maritime training opportunities as they become available at the Shipyard.

There are on-the-job training programmes in different trades and departments, and training in the general skills necessary for everyone working in an industrial environment.

Individuals who possess the skills and qualifications, and are interested in future employment opportunities with Clear Blue Maritime Agency, should forward resumes to HYPERLINK “mailto:clearbluemaritimeagencyltd@hotmail.com” clearbluemaritimeagencyltd@hotmail.com
