THE Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for the next couple of hours.
A severe thunderstorm warning is now in effect for Andros, New Providence and Bimini and the Berry Islands and their adjacent waters.
At 3.40 pm edt radar and satellite data indicated a line of thunderstorms extending from the central Gulf of Mexico moving northeastwards through Andros, New Providence, Bimini and the Berry Islands.
These thunderstorms will be strong to severe causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, flooding in low-lying areas and possible waterspout or tornadic activity.
Residents should seek shelter and remain indoors and boaters in the warning areas should seek safe harbour.
