Congratulations to the 23 new Cursillistas! Another exciting step has been taken on your Christian journey! You have had the Cursillo three-day weekend experience! On the Sunday of that weekend you heard about the Fourth Day, that is, the rest of your life. The Day of Deeper Understanding is a Fourth Day Cursillo Programme designed to strengthen our understanding of what it means: ‘to make a friend, be a friend and bring your friend to Christ’!

A complete understanding of the Sunday message of the Cursillo three-day weekend is essential, for it is designed with talks and activities to prepare us to live the Fourth Day. However, the weekend is packed with so many intense physical, mental and emotional activities, by Sunday one is exhausted, and therefore, the understanding of this crucial Sunday message is lost.

Consequently, the purpose of The Day of Deeper Understanding, in a relaxed atmosphere, is to allow for the presentation of a clearer picture and a deeper look at the gift of the Cursillo Method (Group Reunion, Ultreya, Spiritual Direction and Rule of Life) and how regular engagement in these activities provides a structure for a lifetime experience of Christian love and service; during the rest of our lives – our Fourth Day.

At The Day of Deeper Understanding six (6) areas are addressed in depth: 1) the role of the Cursillo Movement in the Church; 2) the structure of the Movement, locally and internationally; 3) how to use the Cursillo Method: Group Reunion, Ultreya, Spiritual Direction and Rule of Life; 4) the Three Day Weekend and its relationship to the Pre-Cursillo and the Fourth Day; 5) Personal Contact Technique; and 6) Sponsorship.

The Day of Deeper Understanding is usually scheduled to take place within two to six weeks after the weekend. While the Fourth Day Programme is most essential for persons just finishing a weekend, all other Cursillistas are encouraged to attend to give support and renew their promise: ‘to make a friend, to be a friend and to bring your friend to Christ’! ULTREYA!
