Man in hospital after shooting

A 30-year-old St James Road man is recovering in hospital after being shot multiple times Wednesday night. The incident happened at around 10pm in the area of St James Road, just off Kemp Road.

Police say the victim was at a business establishment when he was approached and shot multiple times by a masked man. He was taken to hospital by a private vehicle and is in serious but stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit on 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers on 328-TIPS.

• Three businesses were shut down by officers of the Northeastern Division on Wednesday. The businesses, on Balfour Avenue and Minnie Street, were ordered closed during operation “crackdown”, two for not having a valid business license and the third after it was discovered that the employees had no status. The female employees, along with a third person were arrested and handed over to Immigration.

A 24-year-old Red Bays, North Andros man is in custody for questioning after the discovery of a quantity of marijuana. He was arrested at about 8pm on Wednesday in the area of Morgan’s Bluff.
