Shooting death: Man arrested

A 23-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning in connection with the shooting death of 70-year-old Belpheam Lightbourne of Polehemus Street, who was shot on May 31 during an attempted burglary at her home.

Police are searching for two men who they want to question in relation to the shooting of a 31-year-old man which reportedly took place around 11.14pm on Thursday at Laird Street off Baillou Hill Road.

On Thursday, police arrested three men ages 61, 56 and 35 at a home they occupy at Rodgers Corner and Hospital Lane, after finding them with a quantity of suspected cocaine and cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

A 25-year-old man of St Vincent Road was also arrested on Thursday for unwantonly discharging a licenced shotgun around 9.30pm at a residence off St Vincent Road.

On Thursday officers of the Mobile Division also removed two firearms from the streets on New Providence, one from

Eaton Street and the other at Columbus and Strachan’s Avenue.
