The Bahamas was fourth following round one.

Said team manager Daphne Haines-Burrows: “After the first day, we are in fourth place, a very familiar spot for us, being right behind the three countries that have populations in the millions,” she said. “After day one the team was ahead of Jamaica and Barbados, the two other countries we are always fighting with for fourth place.”

At that point, the Bahamas was just 10 points behind the Dominican Republic, and led by Jamaica by just eight, but eventually extended the final margin to 27.

The Bahamian golfers faced off against the top teams from around the region, including the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) on the 18-hole course.

The championships are played annually and is rotated amongst the members of The Caribbean Golf Association.

This team event, first played in Puerto Rico in 1988, is played over 54 holes in three divisions for boys and girls 11-18 years.
