Man fights for life after being hit by car

AN ELDERLY man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was hit by a car in Freeport, Grand Bahama Wednesday morning. The incident happened around 2:15am on Adventurers’ Way.

Police say the 56-year-old pedestrian was in the area of the Garden Villas Apartments, when he was struck by a 2009 Chevy Cobalt, while attempting to cross the street.

He received serious injuries and was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The 28-year-old woman driver was not injured.

A male resident of Freeport is hospitalized in critical condition after being involved in a traffic accident on Grand Bahama.

Police are actively investigating this matter.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force is encouraging members of the motoring public to drive with due care and attention. They are also advising pedestrians to pay particular attention while walking on the streets.

In other crime news, police are searching for two men responsible for shooting a teenage boy and his teenage sister on Tuesday.

It happened around 8am at a residence at Milton Street off East Street.

Details of the incident are still sketchy, but police say the 17-year-old boy and his 19-year old sister where at home when the shooting occurred.

They were taken to hospital in a private vehicle where they are listed in stable condition.

Investigations are continuing.

A 56 year old is described as "elderly" ... I looked in vain for the Tribune to describe the 74 year old US Embassy worker as elderly.
