Concert honoured gospel legend and Marlin Award winner Kevan “Kevi Kev” McKenzie.

A SPECIAL memorial celebration concert entitled “Rise Again” was held last night at Bahamas Faith Ministries in honour of Bahamian gospel legend and Marlin Award winner Kevan “Kevi Kev” McKenzie.

The highly anticipated event began at 7:30pm and featured a variety of top gospel recording artists including Christian Massive, Vision, Edison Sumner and Voices of Praise, Sweet Revival, Tracy Knowles, Bishop Lawrence Rolle, Mother Rachael Mackey, Minister Dwight Armbrister, Nehemiah Hield, Ambassador Devon Rolle and the Barak Movement, DJ Counselor and several others.

Two of Kevan’s sons, Karrington and Antuwan, were scheduled to perform a special remix of their father’s hit single “Drivers Seat”, along with producer and recording artist Sammi Starr.

Minister Vaughn Miller and Jack Thompson were the hosts for the event.

Admission was free but donations were accepted.

It was also announced that the funeral for Mr McKenzie will be held on Saturday, July 27 at Bahamas Faith Ministries at 1pm.

He will be interred at Lake View Gardens and Mausoleums.

Mr McKenzie passed away on Monday July 15 at 8.15pm at Doctors Hospital after a long battle with colon cancer.

He was 51 years old. He is survived by his wife Angela, four children Kevra, Ashton, Karrington and Antuwan, a granddaughter, two sisters and two brothers, including one of the county’s best entertainers and producers, Dillon “D Mac” McKenzie.
