EDITOR, The Tribune.

I have always been under the understanding that any spending over $50,000 by government must go to tender – it seems today consultant after consultant is retained without any process except possibly they are known to some bigwig.

Look at the Bimini - Genting project. The PM announced that some town planning firm is retained – when was the tender published?

Who is doing the environmental impact study of the ocean side dock for the new fast ferry which many on Bimini are opposed to?

EDAW’s name rose at the opening of the Pompey Square development – where did they come from it was six years ago that surely their services were cancelled, but they are back? No tender, no nothing.

The proposals for the power station... right after May, 2012 it seems many proposals were unsolicited and arrived on the desk of government – no tender, no RFP but incredibly these proposals are now being looked at officially.

Surely this is in breach of the finance act?

Or is ignorance bliss?
Transparency in governance has to be on top of the table but what we see? Nothing public, everything under the table and hundreds maybe thousands of dollars rushing somewhere but probably not correctly with consultant after consultant.

Where is the Freedom of information Act?

Dead obviously as seemingly neither Ingraham nor Christie wished the public to have an eye on their and government’s antics.

The Law must always been seen to be upheld – that’s how governments get themselves in sticky problems.
