Shipyard takes part in GB float parade

AS a proud supporter of the 40th Independence Celebrations, the Grand Bahama Shipyard and its staff also took part in the Grand Bahama float parade last week.

The parade, postponed because of weather, was rescheduled and featured the Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) float totally redecorated for the event.

Staff and apprentices from the GBS helped created the yard’s float into a mini Cruise Ship design, complete with Captains Bridge, Carnival steam stack and two huge Bahamian flags.

“One of the best parts of the parade was the trip to West End,” said Carl Rotkirch, CEO of the yard.

“We understand it was quite an effort to get there but the welcome by residents was warm and heartfelt,” he said.
