Re: Governor General and Sir Durward Talk Independence with Mr Mario Newry

First Off:

Thank you for your article written July 9, 2013 on Governor General and Sir Durward Talk Independence. This is the first time that I am writing to an Editor and after watching the show, I said that I must write to express my views to a well documented programme and to comment on the article in your newspaper.

The article was a good read and I was intrigued about the different parts of the television programme that was created by Mario Newry.

I grew up listening to Mr Newry on the radio and was happy to hear that he was putting together an Independence show with the Governor General and Sir Durward Knowles.

I thank The Tribune for the article because it reminded me to watch the programme on ZNS.
Secondly: The Independence show with the Governor General and Sir Durward Knowles was so well produced. I always watch shows on CNN and the quality of this programme was, in my view on the same level as the international shows. It was so good to see Mr Newry, who was always an excellent journalist and to him I say thank you for bringing such an informative and educational, Independence programme for all of us to watch.

My husband is from Greece and we were even more delighted to see the Greek flag and other countries wishing the Bahamas Happy Independence; we cannot recall a show on television that ever was as inclusive as this show. Hence, we would wish to congratulate Mr Newry for this show and hope that more shows like this can be made for our children and the future generations of the Bahamas.
