AML Foods plans to completely remodel its 11 Dominos Pizza franchise locations over the next two years, executives telling Tribune Business the company will invest $80,000-$125,000 per store as part of its theatre design roll-out.

The company kicked-off its initiative yesterday with the opening of its Cable Beach location, the first of four locations expected to undergo such a remodel this year.

The BISX-listed food and franchise group invested $375,000 to re-open the Cable Beach store, and will invest between $80,000-$125,000 to remodel each of its remaining locations.

Speaking at the opening of the Cable Beach store, AML Foods’ chairman, Dionisio D’Aguilar, said the new theatre store concept would feature a sleek and modern design, inclusive of features such as an open viewing area of the food preparation process, the ability to order from a kiosk, a more comfortable lobby with dine-in seating, free WiFi and a chalk board for customers to leave feedback.

“Other additions include grab and go items such as Nestle cream cups, as well as a new assortment of healthy options, including an oven-baked Mediterranean sandwich and refreshing selections of Vitamin water,” said Mr D’Aguilar.

“We have changed our look, improved our services, expanded our menu and changed dramatically the way we do business. We are truly excited to introduce our new theatre store concept and design.

“I really think that our customers will find our theatre design, the ability to view the pizzas as they are being made, to be a great convenience and attraction, plus our in-store dining has been laid out to be even more comfortable and inviting than ever before.”

Mr D’Aguilar added that while Domino’s Pizza was still primarily in the business of pizza delivery, its dine-in option was a more customer friendly addition to its store offering.

He said: “This is the first remodel of a Dominos in our 11-store chain. We expect to complete three more this year, four stores in 2014 and two stores in 2015.”

Dominos Pizza has nine locations in New Providence and two in Grand Bahamas. AML Foods plans to relocate one of its Grand Bahama Dominos Pizza stores. The company employs 250 people under its Dominos Pizza franchise.

Shervin Stuart, executive vice-president of AML Foods with responsibility for the franchise division, said: “Today’s opening symbolises a new concept, a new vision and a re-branding of Domino’s, so to speak.

“Dominos has been going through a transition in terms of trying to get away from the first and second generation stores we had. This is the current image in Dominos Pizza called pizza theatre, which basically is a setting and an experience that really engages the customer more intimately in the way that we do our business. The business has been very good over the years.”
