BTC wins global telecoms award

The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) has been awarded the Global Telecoms Business (GTB) award for ‘Business Service Innovation’.

The GTB Award highlights the innovative and progressive use of technology, and the introduction of new services to maximise a positive customer experience and enhance business operations.

BTC has been working with its partner, Syniverse Technologies, to provide a enhanced customer communications services, including ‘Roam Monitor’ and ‘Welcome SMS’.

Marlon Johnson, BTC’s senior vice-president of marketing, brand and communications, said: “‘Roam Monitor’ will allow our customers to gauge their data usage when travelling.

“Additionally, ‘Welcome SMS’ will allow our users to receive a text message when travelling to let them know who BTC’s preferred roaming partners are. So take, for instance, once implemented when you travel to Florida you will receive a text message indicating who our roaming partners are and who our preferred partners are.”

BTC has also been working to improve its connectivity with overseas carriers by increasing roaming agreements and roaming partners.

The company took the award against stiff competition from the likes of Zain Middle East, China Telecom, Telstra Australia and several other networks.

BTC said it validates the continuing investment it is making in providing high quality, customer focused services and operations.
