THE CHURCH of God of Prophecy Love Centre is set to present a new production which addresses social issues in The Bahamas.
A play called ‘The Fallen’ will be showcased on June 28 at the centre beginning 7.30pm.
The Fallen has been in the works for the past three years said Samita Ferguson, its writer. She recently put the finishing touches on the script to ensure it reflects what is going on in the Bahamas.
Ms Ferguson said: “The play addresses social issues like HIV/AIDS, teenage pregnancy, and other things. It is not only for young people, but anyone can benefit from the moral of the story,” she told Tribune Religion.
The production follows a young woman called Martha who is committed to finding and fulfilling the purpose of her life.

However, things change drastically for the young woman as her aspirations all take second place because of a distracting relationship.
“The young lady vowed she would never sell herself short, remain pure and abstain from sex until the right time. But as the story unfolds viewers will see that there is a trap set up for the young lady and she will face tremendous challenges,” Ms Ferguson said.
The play speaks to all demographics, because the moral of the story is something that anyone can apply to their own lives. Ms Ferguson said people learn from the experiences of others and although the play is not based on a real life story, Martha and the other characters represent someone, somewhere.
“Sometimes we may not go through the same issues as someone else, but we can surely learn what steps to take in our own lives so that we do not make those same mistakes.
“There is something that the young and old can learn from The Fallen. Many of us have been to a point in our lives when we have fallen, and because of the decisions we make, we have to suffer the consequences. But that does not mean that because you have fallen you must stay there. You can get back up, dust yourself off because there is always a second chance at life,” she told Tribune Religion.
Ms Ferguson said the play also speaks to the issue of temptation and triumphing over temptation. She said Christians can overcome temptation every time because not only are they equipped with the spiritual tools to do so, but God provides a way out for anyone who seeks his help.
“When Jesus was on the earth he was tempted and tested in every possible way. There are times when we as Christians are tested too. And even though we may give in to temptation we do not have to condemn ourselves and remain in the guilt. We can rise above that because Christ has forgiven and he strengthens us in our weakness,” she said.
Ms Ferguson said she hopes to present The Fallen at different churches in Nassau and the Family Islands.
