Man hurt in hit and run

ABACO police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and left a pedestrian injured on the S C Bootle Highway in Crown Haven.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 10:22pm on Friday.

Inspector Advardo Dames reported that a man was walking west on the highway, near the Church of God of Prophecy, when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

The driver, he said, failed to stop at the scene.

The victim was assisted to the clinic in Fox Town. He was then airlifted to New Providence, where he was treated for his injuries.

Inspector Dames said the victim is detained in stable condition.

Abaco police are also investigating a shooting on that island that sent a New Providence man to hospital over the weekend.

Inspector Dames reported that the incident occurred around 12:05am on Saturday in the Murphy Town area,

According to reports, the victim went to the Marsh Harbour Clinic. He reported that he was approached by two men, one of whom pulled out a handgun and shot him in the right leg.

Inspector Dames said the man was airlifted to the Princess Margaret Hospital in New Providence, where he is listed in stable condition.

Police are appealing to members of the public who might have information that could assist them to call 911, 919, or the Marsh Harbour Police Station at 367-2560.
