Figurehead for bank is latest in list of honoured fathers

NATHANIEL G Beneby is the latest father to feature in The Tribune who was honoured by Mount Tabor Full Gospel Church to mark The Bahamas’ 40th Anniversary of Independence.

On Friday, June 14, the church recognised 40 men who stand out in their role as fathers and who have made big contributions to the ongoing development of the nation.

Awards were presented at the ‘Celebrating Fatherhood’ event at the Sheraton Beach Resort on Cable Beach.

Nathaniel Beneby Jr is Market Head, Personal Banking Bahamas, Turks and Caicos and Cayman Islands at RBC Royal Bank.

He was born on June 16, 1954, in New Providence, the third of ten children of the late Bishop Nathaniel and Victoria Beneby (both deceased) from the settlements of Browns and Bullet Hill Crooked Island.

He joined RBC Royal Bank of Canada in 1973 as an entry level clerk. After serving in a range of senior level leadership positions, Mr Beneby was promoted to Country Head of RBC Royal Bank in The Bahamas in 2006.

He was the first Bahamian in the bank’s 100-year history in The Bahamas to hold this position. In 2010 he was named President of RBC Royal Bank (Bahamas) Ltd and his responsibilities have recently been expanded to Market Head, Personal Banking for The Bahamas, Cayman and Turks & Caicos Islands.

In addition, Mr Beneby was appointed as a member of the bank’s Caribbean Pension Advisory Group in 2012.

As a member of the Clearing Banks Committee, Deputy Chairman of The Bahamas Automated Clearing House and a Past President of the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services, he has contributed significantly towards the growth and development of personal and business banking in The Bahamas. He serves as Deputy Chairman, Public Hospitals Authority and Chairman of the Finance Committee.

He co-chaired a fundraising cabinet to raise funds for the College of The Bahamas in its efforts to obtain University status.

He is a former advisory board member of The Salvation Army, Grand Bahama and former advisory board member College of The Bahamas, Northern Campus

As a local head of RBC he ensures the bank’s donations and corporate responsibility initiatives are channelled to areas of national development like education, health, social services and youth development.

Mr Beneby is a licensed and ordained Minister in the Church of God of Prophecy.

He is a past Sunday school teacher and Superintendent Church Musician.

He received his early education in the public school system and is a 1972 graduate of Prince Williams Baptist High School

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, California Coast University Santa Ana, California and a MBA (Honours) from the same university.

Mr Beneby is married to Eulease Beneby nee Rigby, a 40-year career educator and Principal of CV Bethel Senior High School. They are the parents of four sons, Nathaniel III, Norrie, Neilsen and Nolan.
