20-year-old shot dead

A 20-year-old man yesterday became the country’s latest murder victim after he was shot multiple times to the head.

The victim was was found dead outside his home on Apple Street off of Wulff Road at around 5am.

Police say they received a phone call that a man was lying on the ground unresponsive.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and shoulder. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not yet officially identified the man, but The Big T understands he is Randy Henfield of Apple Street.

At present the circumstances surrounding the murder are unknown. However, police are investigating and appealing to members of the public who may have any information to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

In a separate case, a 25-year-old man of Faith Avenue is in police custody after allegedly breaking into a residence on Shell Fish Drive, off Carmichael Road.

According to reports, shortly after 1am on Friday residents of the area caught a suspect after a man reportedly broke into a neighbour’s home.

A man was handed over and subsequently arrested by officers of the Mobile Division.

Mobile Division officers also made arrests on Thursday: a 41-year-old man of Sisal Road was arrested for causing harm; a 27-year-old man of Montell Heights was arrested in reference to threats of death and two people were arrested on outstanding criminal arrest warrants.

Police investigations are continuing.
