A PRE-SCHOOL in western New Providence was robbed hours after police arrested a man for breaking into a church.

The school raid happened around 9.20am on Thursday in the West Ridge area.

Police have not released any details on the robbery but the Big T understands that as a teacher was closing the door to the school, a man in a red hoodie and long blue pants with white tennis shoes forced his way into the school and demanded cash.

When the teacher told the man there was no money kept inside the building, he robbed her of her gold chain and fled on foot. No one was harmed.

The Big T attempted to contact the school but calls were not returned up to press time.

The robbery happened just hours after police arrested a man for attempting to break into a church.

According to reports, officers were on routine patrol on Gladstone Road when they saw a man attempting to break into a church. The 26-year-old suspect was arrested and is in police custody. He was also wanted on two outstanding criminal warrants.

Investigations into both matters are continuing.

Police are also requesting the public’s help in locating a man responsible for robbing a business establishment on Bernard Road. The raid reportedly happened shortly after 8pm on Thursday.

Police say a masked armed man entered the establishment and demanded cash. The culprit reportedly robbed the store of an undetermined amount of money and fled on foot.

Police are reminding members of the public to always be on the alert and to always pay attention to their surroundings especially when conducting financial transactions.
