Sun 'n Fun execs set to host fly-out air show in Grand Bahama and Abaco

SUN ‘n Fun executives expect 30-35 persons to participate in a group fly-out to Grand Bahama and Marsh Harbour, Abaco this May.
Top executives at Sun ‘n Fun in Lakeland, Florida, are advertising and promoting the Fly-Out to Grand Bahama and Marsh Harbour, scheduled to be held May 23-27 on the landing page of the Sun ‘n Fun website.

Sun ‘n Fun’s president, John “Lites” Leenhouts, was a part of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s annual FBO Fam to the Bahamas in 2012.

He said: “The simplicity of getting in and out, and the beauty and enjoyment of travelling to the Bahamas, makes it an attractive destination for any pilot.

Other Sun ‘n Fun officials on the Bahamas Fam included chairman Robert ‘Bob’ Knight and exhibits manager Bonnie Perkins.

Mr Leenhouts said that because of what he experienced during his trip last year, he and his executive team decided to invite the organisation’s supporters to the five day, four night Fly-Out.

The air show’s officials believe that the event will attract 10-15 planes.

This year’s main Sun ‘n Fun is scheduled to take April 9-14 at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Florida. The popular event, which is the second largest air show in the US, was founded in 1974 and was first organised by the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
The Bahamas’ Ministry of Tourism and Aviation, have been taking part in the annual Sun ‘n Fun for more than 10 years.

Show goers also have the opportunity to speak with Bahamas representatives including hoteliers and FBO officials.
