AMERICAN Idol revealed its top 10 contestants last week, with the women leading the pack this year. There is no doubt women are make a huge statement in the talent area this year.
It was nail biting to watch some of the best singers sent home after two days of performing for a spot in the top ten.
The contestants waited in a green room while the finalists were being announced one by one. For the first time in Idol history, each advancing contestant was given the opportunity to sing a winning song, in front of Judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, before taking a seat on the top 10 panel.
It was the end of the road for well loved Idol contestant Zoanette Johnson and many more. Sitting in the room to find out they did not make it were contestants Vincent Powell, Aubrey Cleland, Charlie Askew, Tenna Torres, Cortez Shaw, Breanna Steer, Elijah Liu, Adrianna Latonio and Nick Boddington.
One Bahamian viewer posted a comment online stating: “I am happy with the results because my favourite Candice was chosen and put through. This season seemed a little weird to me because I feel like they were looking for entertainment, rather than raw talent.”
Another viewer said: “I’ve been watching the show off and on, and from what I can see a lot of people who need to be there, were sent home. But I think it’s because there was too much talent to choose from. They are all talented, but if I had to choose, I would trade one or two to come back. Overall, I am excited to watch the show now to see who will win this thing.”
A lot of viewers expected the show to bring on a “wild-card pick,” but it did not happen. However, Ryan announced that this week, the sixth placed male and female contestants will compete for votes for the American Idol tour.
