Cable transitions to own services

Cable Bahamas is switching its own internal phone system over to its REVOICE service, leaving behind the legacy phone service it has been using for the last 18 years.

“We are ‘putting our money where our mouth is’, so to speak,” said David Burrows, head of marketing at Cable Bahamas. “We have seen incredible growth from our residential and commercial phone customers, and a big part of that growth has been based on proving how reliable REVOICE is. Well, now we are demonstrating revolutionary reliability as we transition all of our incoming and outgoing calls over to REVOICE.”

Cable Bahamas’ more than 400 employees currently handle more than two million phone calls every year. The new REVOICE-based numbers are active now, simultaneously with the former numbers, allowing subscribers and the wider public to continue to use both for now.

The customer service number, previously 356-2200, changes to 601-2200, the Grand Bahama main number changes from 350-8800 to 602-8800, and the main administration number switches from 356-6780 to 601-6780. Internal direct numbers starting with 356 and 502 in Nassau, and 350 in Grand Bahama, will also change their prefix to 601 and 602 respectively.

Mr Burrows explained that all phone numbers are moving to REVOICE and therefore only the new phone numbers will be used after the official switchover date, May 1, 2013.

Mr Burrows said: “It means we can deliver new services and added conveniences for our subscribers, and we can better manage and control one of our most vital connections to our customers -- our telephones.”

Mr Burrows added that REVOICE business and residential customers from anywhere in the Bahamas will be able to call the company without incurring any long distance charges.
