Ministers in trip to meet US Attorney General

A TEAM of senior government ministers travelled to Washington DC on Friday for high level talks with United States Attorney General Eric Holder.

The delegation included Minister of National Security Bernard J Nottage; Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell and Attorney General, Senator Allyson Maynard-Gibson.

The discussions focused on national security issues including human smuggling, trafficking in persons, gun trafficking, and opportunities for continued mutual assistance.

It came as part of the PLP’s pledge in its ‘Charter for Governance’ to fight crime under its proposed ‘Operations Safe Bahamas’.

While in Washington DC the team also met with Ambassador Luis CdeBaca who heads the Department of State’s Office that Monitors and Combats Trafficking in Persons globally. The Washington DC meetings with Eric Holder and Ambassador CdeBaca provided an opportunity for both countries to review the progress made to date and to continue to develop the initiatives explored during their December 2012 meetings.

What, no flights to Washington on Sunday? Please you think the AG is going to meet over the weekend. I think the country should buy a jet for Freddy and his crew, maybe cheaper for everyone in the long run.
