Leading dailies face off in paint war games

THE TRIBUNE and the Nassau Guardian took their rivalry to the Playground Paintball Arena on Saturday to settle their score in paint.

The groups are used to competing in ink, but they went head-to-head in a six-on-six five-minute battle to start the war games. In the first match The Tribune came out of the forest victorious with three men left standing.

The Guardian put up a fierce fight in the second five-minute battle, holding down the low-ground and placing sniper Royston Jones in the dilapidated van in an attempt to pick-off Tribune militia. However, his efforts were unsuccessful with the Tribune grabbing a second victory.

When it came time to capture the flag, both teams formulated strategies with their captains Jason Taylor (Tribune) and Taneka Thompson (Guardian).

Snipers Dale Dean, Adam Higgs, Chester Robards were positioned to protect the flag and hold back any oncoming Guardian forces with cover fire, while Stephen Hunt and Jason advanced toward the Guardian’s front lines. Kamikaze runner Santana Forbes was recruited to capture the flag and bring it back to base. And that is just what he did while Terran Knowles, Travis Carrol, Royston and Taneka were held back by a constant onslaught of Tribune paintballs.
The Tribune won two of three capture the flag matches, leaving the final battle of the press at 4-1, until next time.
