Law firm's private client team on award shortlist

A Bahamian law firm’s Private Clients and Wealth Management Group has been shortlisted for ‘Team of the Year’ at the inaugural Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Caribbean Awards 2013.
The Higgs & Johnson team has more than 40 years of experience in the private client field, including offshore and onshore trusts and, more recently, foundations.

Its members have been part of many Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) working groups and, most recently, were active in introducing executive entities to the Bahamas, promoting it locally and internationally.

Dr Earl Cash, partner and chair of the group, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award. Our team appreciates the vote of confidence demonstrated by the panel of judges.”
Tim Prudhoe, chair of the judging panel, said: “For the first time we brought together a group of judges who all have direct experience of working in the region. The judges were impressed by the standard of entries, and it was hard work to pick a list of the best finalists.”

The STEP Caribbean Awards are part of the STEP Caribbean Conference to be held in St Kitts from May 6-8, 2013.

Nadia Fountain, senior associate and member of the Higgs & Johnson Private Clients & Wealth Management group, is one of the speakers at the conference.

Ms Fountain specialises in wills, estate planning, foundations and private trust companies, and sits on the board of STEP Bahamas. This year’s award winners will be announced at the STEP Caribbean Conference Gala Dinner.
