Man falls from roof of two-storey building

A MAN reportedly fell off a two-storey roof he was repairing, leaving fears that he was paralysed from the waist down.

It happened around 3.30pm on East Bay Street, yesterday, at a building next to the Double Dragon restaurant.

A man who was at the scene told The Tribune: “I heard it more than I saw it. I heard a very loud thump and when I turned around, he was already on the ground.”

He said workers told him the man allegedly fell backwards off the roof and appeared to hit a piece of scaffold on the way down.

The witness said the man - although he reportedly could not speak English - told people at the scene he believed he may have been left paralysed.

“He said it himself, he couldn’t feel from the waist on down,” the witness said.

“I was very worried. We could only see the outside, but all kinds of things could have happened on the inside - he could have had internal bleeding.”

Ambulances were also pictured at the scene, taking the man away.
