IT SEEMS like yesterday when American Idol opened its twelfth season. Thousands of contestants from all over the United States auditioned for the newly formed judging panel, with Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson.
With only three contestants left, the show is just days away from discovering a new winner.

The finale episodes are scheduled for next Wednesday and Thursday.
This season brought a lot of “new” things for the show.

This is the first time in American Idol history that all male finalists were voted off consecutively before any female contestants, making it the first time the show had an all female top 5. This is also the first American Idol season where the judges did not use their “save card” for any of the contestants.
After escaping the elimination torture two weeks ago where no one was sent home, the remaining four contestants were faced with another set of results last week. Unfortunately for contestant Amber Holcomb, her time on the show was up. Amber received the lowest number of viewer votes and was sent packing.
Amber’s fans immediately took to social media to express their thoughts on the elimination.
One viewer said: “All has not ended for Amber, she is not only talented and beautiful, she is also humble.

Jennifer Hudson was also this close to winning the title and she didn’t. And it so happened that she did not need the title to succeed, so I hope all goes well for Holcomb.”
Another viewer said: “I personally think that the final two should have been Amber and Candice, but here in the Bahamas we cannot vote for them. I am sure a lot of people would agree that Amber should still be there, she has winner written all over her. I am just going to sit back and tune in to who is going to win this thing.”
The top three contestants that remain are Angela Miller, Candice Glover and Kree Harrison.

Tonight, each contestant is expected to perform three individual songs where there is no room for error. The girls will be taking on songs selected by the American Idol team: the judges, the producers, and Jimmy Iovine’s choice.
If there was ever a time to go all out and show everything they got, it would be tonight.
