Governor General has sky high birthday party

GOVERNOR General Sir Arthur Foulkes celebrated his 85th birthday on May 11, 43,000 feet in the air in the lounge of Emirates airlines on route to Japan where Her Excellency Lady Foulkes is to christen the newest Campbell Shipping Vessel, CS JADEN today.

Former South Eleuthera MP, Oswald Ingraham will act as Deputy to the Governor General during the absence of Sir Arthur Foulkes.

Sir Arthur and his wife will be accompanied to Japan by Lowell J Mortimer, President of the company, and will visit Tokyo and Imabari.

During the visit to Imabari, Lady Foulkes will name and launch the Motor Vessel C/S Jaden which is the latest dry bulk carrier to be managed by Campbell Shipping and will add an additional 38,000 DWT to the Shipping Registry of The Bahamas.

The new ship will join Campbell’s current fleet of 15. Imabari is one of the largest shipbuilding companies in the world and the Company is known for the quality of its ships’ construction.

The contract for the C/S Jaden was signed at the Balmoral Club in October 2011 by Mr Mortimer, President of Jaden Shipping Company Limited, and the executives of Itochu Corporation of Japan. While in Japan, Sir Arthur and Lady Foulkes will take part in various tours including the Imperial Palace and a Chano-Vu (tea ceremony). They will also travel via Bullet Train to Hiroshima for a visit to the A-bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park.
