AN IDA STREET resident was shot and killed early Sunday morning as he left a local club. It happened around 2:30am.
Police say the man, who sources identified only by his nickname “Psycho”, was in the area of Showtime Bar in the South Beach Shopping Plaza, with a group of persons, when he was approached by a man that he knew.
An argument followed between the men, resulting in “Psycho” being shot twice in the chest, once in the stomach and once in the back.
The suspect escaped in a waiting vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are appealing to members of the public who might have information about this incident to contact them at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.
Police are also investigating two other shooting incidents that left two men in hospital.
The first incident took place around 1:45am Saturday.
Details of the incident are still sketchy but police say a 23-year-old man was shot in the area of Haven and Soldier Road.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he is listed in stable condition.
The second incident took place around 7pm and resulted in a 71-year-old man being shot in the thigh.
Police say the victim was at his Roland Street home off Boyd Road when he was approached and shot by a man attempting to rob him of his vehicle.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he is listed in stable condition.
Investigations into all of these matters are continuing.

Why aren't the Police monitoring these areas 24 hrs a day we have a massive amount of police officers, and we are continuing to churn out more and more each year from the Training College. They are not short staffed. We need Police on the ground watching the Tourists back. We all know Mackey Street and Shirley Street in that area is a problem area.

Well they do monitor, but mainly Blue Waters. There you could of find one police car stationed, now just the other night/wee hours of the morning there was two patrol cars along with a small police van. Did I mention that these police vehicles are always PARKED in the road (left lane) at the top of the hill. Just say one night/early morning a motorist is travelling within the speed limit, traffic light is on green and because a government vehicle is parked in the road, an accident occurs, who is at fault? Remember now the patrol cars are parked at the top of the hill which is a blind spot until a motorist travelling reaches the top when its just split seconds left for trying to avoid something CARELESSLY place to endanger one's life.

Also...isn't there meant to be a curfew on the local nightclubs? Wasn't Waterloo and a couple of the bigger clubs shut down shortly after midnight a while back for exceeding their operating hours? Maybe the police need to start enforcing the law...of wait, we've tried that before and it doesn't work...sigh
