CLUB RESULTS

THE Champion Amateur Boxing Club hosted its 18th annual Wellington “Sonny Boy” Rahming Silver Glove Amateur Boxing Tournament at the Wulff Road Boxing Square on Saturday.

The event showcased nine exciting matches. Lennox Boyce won on points over Malik Lundrin - 25-24, Donovan Taylor won on points over Emmanual Ford – 38-37, Marvin Burrows won over Trevor Pinder – referee stopped contest in second round, Shawn Burrows won on points over Ira Kemp Jr – 21-18, Doncyn Cartwright won on points over Lawrence Mckinney – 18-14, Wellington Sears won on points over Carlos Walkine – 23-13, Colin Bullard won on points over Anwar Davis – 26-19 and Donovan Taylor (second match) won on points over Kendrick Stuart – 27-20.

There was also an exhibition match between Javano Collins and Don Rolle Jr.

The best fight of the night was between Lennox Boyce and Malik Lundrin. The most improved boxer was Colin Bullard and the most outstanding boxer was Donovan Taylor.

The event was sponsored by Battery & Tyre Specialist, Bahamas Vision Centre, D’Albenas Agencies Ltd, Ron’s Electric, Universal Dental & Medical Centre and Wallace Whitfield & Co.

The next upcoming event is scheduled for 6pm Saturday, May 25, at the Wulff Road Boxing Square - “A Shout Out To” “Big Dynamite” Fritz, former Bahamian heavyweight boxer.

TENNIS

DOUBLES CHAMPIONS

BAHAMIANS Justin Roberts and Kevin Major Jr combined their skills to become doubles champions of the Plantation ITF G4 event today, defeating the fourth seeds Lemar Remy (USA) and Alejandro Tabilo (Can) 6-4 3-6 10-7.

The seventh seeded duo avenged their quarterfinal loss in the Daytona ITF last week to claim the championship. On their way to the victory, Roberts and Major Jr defeated the No.1, 5 and 4th seeds in competitive matches which were decided in the third sets.
